Photograph of the Historical Farm House Being Bulldozed

Item is a photograph of the historical farmhouse being bulldozed. Much of the Humber College land was originally an historic working farm. Barns and dwelling space were a part of the land package that Humber acquired early in 1967. An 1830s farmhouse was considered a heritage site, but by 1979 it was in bad repair and could not affordably be re-purposed for Humber's use. The site was later used for Arboretum demonstration gardens.

Item is a photograph of the exterior of the historical farm house. While new construction was continually going on at the North Campus since 1968, Humber was forced in 1979 to demolish a 100-year-old farmhouse on its campus grounds. There was one hope to save the historic building by utilizing it as a detox centre, but Etobicoke General Hospital withdrew its offer, when restoration estimates proved the project to be too costly.
