Grounds and Office Building

Front: Colour picture – Mimico Branch Asylum in the early 1900s. To the left of the image are dark, bushy trees and a green, manicured lawn. To the right of the image is a large shrub that covers part of a large red brick building with peaks and many windows. The lawn features several small flower beds and a light tan stone or dirt walkway. At the end of the walkway, what looks to be a human figure can be seen, possibly a statue. In the upper left of the postcard, printed over the trees, text on the image reads: “Grounds and Office. Mimico Asylum, Toronto, Canada.” In the lower right corner is the identifying code “104 071” and in a small circle the letters “JV.”

Back: Divided back. Some printed text identifies the maker as Valentine & Sons Publishing. There are a few more lines of printed text.

North American Hotel

Front: Colored photograph of the North American Motel. The picture demonstrates a street view of the motel with cars being parked in front of it. At the right hand side there is sign mentioning the name of the motel, at the back of the motel there is a tall far fetched green tree. The lawn near the building looks clean with a vacancy sign kept near the entrance.

Back: The back of the postcard is beige and the postcard seems to have never been used. The postcard is divided into almost two parts by a written text “Canadian Post Card Co. Ltd., Toronto 3”. On the left hand side Motel’s information (address and contact details) is printed with blue ink. On the right hand side “Post Card” is printed along with a box that mentions “Place stamp here”. At the bottom left corner “40687-B” is printed which appears to be some kind of a serial no. In the middle there is a little circle that writes “Printed in Canada” lastly at the bottom right corner “250” is written with a pencil.

Front: Black and white photograph. The photos shows a boat with a mast on a rocky beach on the left. There is a house seen on the very left past the boat. The right side of the photo shows a body of water with waves. Behind the water is a waterfront with trees. At the foreground in the middle, there is a cluster of large rocks.

Back: Divided blank back. There is some black text on the top centre with a square in the right corner. There is a vertical line down the middle centre of the back.

Hillcrest Motel -- Toronto, Ontario

Front: Colour image. The image shows the front of a two storey building. The building has light brown brick along the left side and bottom. Along the top and half of the bottom storey, is white walls. There are balconies/railings along the top floor. At the corner on the left of the building, there is an overhang over a wall of windows. In front of the building, there is a road with multi-coloured cars in front. Behind the building and the very right edge, are trees with green leaves. At the bottom, there is a line of yellow text.

Back: Plain white back. There is a line of vertical text down the centre which divides the postcard. There is a paragraph of text on the left side and a few lines of text on the right.

The beautiful new Seaway Towers Motor Hotel

Front: Colour photo. The image shows the street view of a building. The building has two parts, a short brown brick part on the left, and a twelve-storey white tower section on the right. The brown section has white text across the front and a section to the left of the text which is black with three windows. On the roof of the brown section, there is a black fence around the building and a pink rounded tent. The white tower section is rectangular and has various windows and balconies throughout. The first floor of the white tower had white pillars. In front the of the whole building, there is a parking lot with multi-coloured cards. At the edge of the parking lot, there is a strip of grass with light posts and around the light posts are multi-coloured flags on a string. Behind the building on the lower right are some green trees and the rest of the background is a blue sky with a few white clouds.

Back: Divided blank back. There is some blue text across the top with a rectangle in the right corner. There is a vertical line of text in the middle dividing the page.

Public School Mimico

Front: Black and White Photograph – of Mimico Public School of a medium sized stone school building with a bell towers surrounded by large trees. The photograph image is bordered by a large white border and the text on the border reads, “Mimico Public School”

Back: Divided back postcard, bears a personal message from Muriel to Elizabeth, handwritten in blue ink. It is postmarked both Mimico and Lucknow, Ontario and bears a 1903 King Edward VII 1 cent stamp. The stamp is positioned upside down and on a slight diagonal, with the corner that would usually be found in the upper right presently forming the lowest point of the diamond.

Two postmarks are visible on the front. Both are oriented so that the circle is towards the center and the wavy lines are between the circle and the edge of the card. In the upper right, the dark postmark ink partially covers the roof of the building. Towards the lower left, over the lawn, the postmark ink is very faded.

Back: Divided back. Some printed text identifies the maker as Valentine & Sons Publishing. Handwritten text in black ink addresses the card to Miss L. Smith, with a note from Bessie. It is postmarked July 12, 1910 in Toronto, Ontario at 8pm. It bears an upside down 1903 King Edward VII 3/4 profile 1 cent stamp.

Vertical colour image. The background of the document is white. At the top of the image, there is a few lines of blue text. Below the text in the centre of the page, there is an illustrated image of two lines of people (six on the top and eight on the bottom). The people all have a blue hat with a silver line and badge on it. The person on the top left has their hand raised and look to be holding some sort of gun while smiling. The second to the left on the top, is holding a stick with a post also pointing towards his face and his lips are puckered. The person third from the left on the top does not have their coat fastened all the way and their chest is visible. The person second from the right on the top has their arm raised in a salute gesture. The person at the right on top is holding a bouquet of yellow flowers. Behind the person on the left at the bottom, there is a pair of bare legs in white heels kicked up. The person on the on the left at the bottom is looking to the right. The second person on the left on the bottom has his hand raised with his finger pointing to his nose and there is a brown dog in front of him with a pair of glasses and hat on with a bottle in its mouth. The person third from the left at the bottom has a skirt on instead of pants and the arm of the person to the right of them has their hand on her shoulder. The person fourth from the right at the bottom has their arm raised in a salute gesture. The person third from the right at the bottom is wearing a helmet. The second person on the right at the bottom has a baton in his hands and his hand on the end of it. The first person on the right at the bottom has his arm folded on his side while his hand is holding what looks like a fly swatter. Behind the first person on the right at the bottom, there is a pair of legs laying horizontal. Below the image of the people, there is the title and then below that are multiple lines of text. The document is held within a black frame.
