Two cylinder gold pieces that tapers towards the opposite knob but then the base of the cylinder is larger. The two gold cylinders (knobs) are connected by two silver cylinders (one in the middle and one on one side of the middle one). Beside the middle silver connecting cylinder, there is another silver cylinder but is only attached to one of the gold pieces. The side silver cylinder connected to both pieces is smooth around on the side of knob but as it connects to the other, it has a spiral design engraved in. Between both knobs, there is a thicker silver cylinder at a ninety-degree to the smaller silver pieces. It has holes in it for the smaller cylinders to go through. At the end of the thicker cylinder, there is a metal rectangular piece, silver with rounded circles on one side, and green on the other. The green side has a rounded triangle prism attached.

Two metal rectangular pieces attached by alternating cylinder like rectangles. Each rectangle has four holes. On one side of the rectangles, the metal is gold for most of the area but where they meet in the middle is painted a light green. On one side corner, there are multiple lines of engraved text. On the other side of the rectangles, one piece is painted brown and the other is mostly white with some beige on the edge and where the two pieces meet is painted a light green.

This door once stood in the Administration Building of the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital. It was an inside facing door painted various colours such as green, pink and brown during its working life. These paint colours are estimated to be used in the mid twentieth century. At that time, many hospitals were embracing colour theory principles and using colour in psychological treatments to create more calming and peaceful environments (Pantalony, 2009). Natural colours, such as greens and blues were often used in psychiatric hospitals to this effect (Bosch et al. 2012). The Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital was a part of this trend. The door, and its many paint colours, serves as one example of colour theory in practice. We can see from the use of colour throughout the hospital how important colour theory was to the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital.
The Administration Building served as a hub for doctors, nurses and hospital staff (Heritage Report, 1986). The colours that surrounded them would have also been informed by hospital colour theory and influenced how they did their work.
Item that Tara had pulled out of G building when it was being renovated.
