History

Formerly opened in 1967, the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (commonly referred to as “Humber College”) was originally established to serve the post-secondary needs of the residents of Etobicoke and York (now parts of Toronto), Ontario.

Currently the College has two main campus, the North Campus (located on Humber College Boulevard, which opened in 1968), and the Lakeshore Campus (where Humber established a presence in 1973). The College currently offers more than 150 programs (including Bachelor’s degree, diploma, certificate, and apprenticeship programs) serving more than 25,000 full time and 57,000 part-time students.

As laid out in the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act (2002), the College is governed by a President and a Board of Governors.

The Archives of the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning was established to serve as the institutional memory of the College, and to support its goals by identifying, preserving, and making available for use the documentary heritage of the College.
