These photos were taken on site in the 1950s. They were taken by Joe Cumberland and Hans Schwabe. Joe Cumberland was the youngest child of Thomas Daly (T.D.) Cumberland and Elizabeth Violet (Vi) Cumberland. TD was the Superintendent of the Hospital during the 1950s (unsure of exact dates). TD fought in the First World War and upon his return to Canada, lived in Kingston. He remained in Kingston until the government asked him to be the new Superintendent at the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hosptial. The couple had two other children who lived at the house – Nora and William (Bill) (the donor’s father). Hans Schwabe was a family friend, more so Bill’s friend.
