General note

The item is a family heirloom as it has been passed on from my grandmother to her daughter (my aunt), who passed it on to me as a birthday gift when I turned 18. The gold in the ring has been in the family for nearly a century now. The gold came from a chain that my grandmother wore during the time of the India and Pakistan partition. It has a lot of significance as people lost all their belongings in the war and the chain was one of, the few things my grandmother was able to keep safe.
