General note
Uzbekistan gained independence on September 1, 1991, traditional garments like the Chapan assumed renewed significance as symbols of national identity. Independence allowed Uzbeks to reclaim and celebrate traditional customs and arts that had been suppressed under Soviet influence. Today, the Chapan remains a common sight during national celebrations and important gatherings, reminding us of a cultural heritage that has survived and adapted through periods of political and social change.

This dress is more than just a piece of clothing; it's a testament to the journey my husband and I embarked on together, from the moment I said "yes" to the dress to the moment we said "I do" to each other. It's a reminder of the love that has carried us through, and a symbol of the future that awaits us. The path to our wedding day wasn't always smooth. We faced challenges, from the unexpected financial strain of replacing our car to the emotional stress of navigating differing family expectations and values. We endured, however, and now this dress is a symbol of the love, resilience, and commitment we share for each other and marks the half way point for the journey that lies ahead of us.
