Equus is a Persky-Bright & Winkast Film Production film. Equus was one of the earliest productions to film on the Lakeshore Grounds, with filming taking place prior to the closure of the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital. In this dark drama, a psychiatrist (Richard Burton) investigates an attack carried out on several horses by a boy (Peter Firth) who has an unhealthy obsession with the animals. The sets included both the cottage buildings and surrounding grounds. Much to the disappointment of the local community, Hollywood celebrity Richard Burton did not film any scenes on the Lakeshore Grounds: his two planned scenes were cancelled prior to filming.
