Custodial history
Common in German heritage special to Kitchener due to the fact that a lot of Germans migrated to Canada after WW1 (hence Oktoberfest)
Scope and content
This teddy bear has been passed down from my grandma and was made out of my gray grandmas black Persian lamb jacket. My great grandma had a German background so in Germany it was very significant to have a Persian lamb jacket. As it symbolized that you made it in life. so I believe in my grandma giving me this teddy bear she was also wishing upon me to get everything I wanted at life
Original jacket was made in a Kitchener Fur shop and my grandmas sister had someone make it into a teddy bear
Outerwear to a household item I guess could be classified as a stuffy/toy?
With me gifted from my grandma

General note
A lot of my information was conducted primarily in person talking to my grandma! However I did also use a lot from the course textbook: the history of modern fashion by Daniel James Cole and Nancy Deihl (published 2015-9-15)
My family had first migrated to Canada in the 1920s after the first world war they were originally from Germany. They came here hope for some sort of American dream almost however, they moved to Canada due to the fact that a lot of German people migrated to Canada and that times specifically Kitchener. my great grandma was then raised in Canada and then grew up to have four kids one of them being my grandma. Unfortunately, my great grandma had passed away before I was born. However my grandma and her sisters understood the importance of keeping certain items of significance in the family. To ensure that it has been passed down to another generation, my grandma and her sisters had found a seamstress to turn the oh beloved jacket of my great grandmas into a teddy bear. My great grandma bought this Persian lamb jacket when she felt like she had made it in life. My grandma had always told me stories about when she was younger and my how much, my great grandma loved that jacket and what it meant to her. I believe, turning it into a teddy bear and passing it on to another generation was them passing on positive wishes and wanting us to quote on quote “make it in life”
