Fragment No. 2

Vertical colour drawing made of pastel. The drawing shows a hallway with a teal blue/green floor. On the right side of the drawing, there is a yellow door with some grey at the top and bottom with a black frame. The wall by the door is white but as it goes towards the top of the image, there are two burgundy stripes with grey above and below. At the left, there is a black rectangle on the wall with grey above. In the grey spot, there are grey pipes and rectangles. Beside the black rectangle, there is part of the wall that protrudes out like a column. The column is multiple colours (teal, green, grey, navy blue, white, burgundy, beige, and tan) in various spots. Beside the column, the wall imposes but then protrudes slightly out again. On the imposed side, there is a grey rectangle and a beige rectangle on the protruding wall. Above the column and rest of the wall towards the white, the wall is tan until the edge of the image with a black line near where the silver turns into the beige. The whole image is surrounded by a white border and it has a line of text at the bottom right. The image is within a copper coloured frame.

Fork

Metal fork. One end of the object has a flat rounded handle which is larger at the top and narrows (teardrop shaped) as it goes towards a metal rod. The metal road is square and flat with the handle on one end and the other end leads to a rounded top with four points. Between the points there is equal space of points and not. The points are slightly rounded. On the back, in the middle of the rod, there is a line of text, and on the back of the handle there are two engraved letters.

Folding Rule

A folding wooden ruler. Each arm of the ruler is a skinny white rectangle with lines and numbers on it. Each arm is connected by a piece of metal which allows it to turn.

Flirting

Vertical colour painting. The top of the painting is a black background. On the right side about one-third down, there is a white bird’s head and neck. The next is extending diagonally from the right edge and curves towards the centre. At the end of the next, there is a orange beak with black by the eye and mouth. The eye is black. The rest of the painting is multiple vertical rows of feathers with white (with yellow detailing) along the top and down the centre and light blue below and beside the rows of white. At the bottom left corner there is a hand written name.

Fire Hose Reel

Metal fire hose reel composed on two spider reels connected via metal bars and spindle trunnion. A pipe is attached to the trunnion where a water hose can be attached. A series of pipe elbows are connected to the trunnion pipe leading to an attached water valve. The exterior of the outward-facing reel spider is painted red and displays an inscription about the item’s patent, inventor, and place of origin.

Evening Rendezvous Fluff

Vertical colour painting. The top of the painting is a black background. On the right side about one-third down, there is a white and blue bird’s head and neck. The head is along the right edge and the neck and beak going diagonally down towards the middle of the page. The beak is orange with black details along the eyes. Two eyes are visible and both are black. The rest of the painting is multiple vertical rows of feathers with white (with yellow detailing) along the top and down the centre and light blue below and beside the rows of white. At the bottom left corner there is a hand written name.

Equus

Vertical black and white image. About two-thirds of the poster is a black, pink, and white image of a partially visible face on the right side and on the left a black outlined horse’s face near the top and one or two pink figured which look like chalk-like drawings. The background of the image is black and there is some white text at the top and the title in white near the bottom. The image and the rest of the poster is white background with some black text at the bottom. The document is within a black frame.

Entrance to Long Branch Park

Front: Real Picture Post Card, Black and White Photograph. Postcard of the entrance to Long Branch Park. Road entrance with stone gates at centre, trees in background, and signed storefronts to the right. No border on the image. Handwritten title on image in white, all caps, reads "Entrance to Long Branch Park." In image, two people (appears to be a man and a woman) stand in front of a storefront advertising Coca-Cola, Cold Drinks, and Ice Cream Cones. A sign further back reads “Long Branch Amusement Park.”

Back: Divided back postcard. A handwritten note in cursive is addressed to Mrs. Badgley in Canfield, Ontario from Leon. It bears most of a 1911 King George V in Admiral Uniform 2 cent stamp.

Dutch Sisters Inn, Smorgasbord Lobby.

Front: The front image is captioned “Dutch Sisters Inn, Smorgasbord Lobby” and features a full color image. The image depicts an interior room with multiple surfaces offering food in a buffet style. In the front left, a small table holds several types of bread and a large bowl of what appears to be salad. Also on the left, towards the midground of the image is a similar table that holds a white, multi-tiered object that may be a Smörgåstårta (Swedish Sandwich Cake.) A longer counter on the right side of the image holds an assortment of meats and other unidentifiable food items. Towards the back is a counter that appears to hold a cash register, and through a doorway a dining room with several chairs can be seen. The floor is finished in muted red and black tiles, and much of the furniture and fixtures are made of light brown wood. The counter holding the meat is decorated with wallpaper featuring windmills.

Back: Divided back - dividing line is stylized, continuing horizontally towards the center of the postcard from the rectangle comprising the stamp box, and then slants diagonally downwards towards a point approximately two thirds of the way across the card, ending on the right hand side at the bottom. Text along the top of the card reads "DUTCH SISTERS INN, 227 LAKESHORE ROAD, HUMBER BAY, TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA MOTEL AND RESTAURANT." Below this reads "A GENUINE KODOCHROME REPRODUCTION." Alongside this block of text is "POST CARD CARTE POSTALE." At the bottom of the postcard is the branding: "THE PHOTOGELATINE ENGRAVING CO. LTD. TORONTO." All of the text and details are printed in blue ink.

2015.001.02a: Door
Side one (display side): Green paint on wood with two long upper panes and two small lower panes. Opening in left side for doorknob fixture. The green paint is chipped to reveal brown on the upper right pane and the two lower panes. Number “4” written on the upper right pane. Green paint is chipped to reveal a pale green area covering about 1/5 of the upper left pane. Side two (non-display side): Light pink/white paint on wooden door. Mirror of side one with two long upper panes and two small lower panes. Paint is chipped on upper left pane to reveal white, blue and brown. Number “4” written on upper right pane. Paint is chipped to reveal white throughout the lower left pane.

2015.001.02b: Doorknob
Two cylinder gold pieces that tapers towards the opposite knob but then the base of the cylinder is larger. The two gold cylinders (knobs) are connected by two silver cylinders (one in the middle and one on one side of the middle one). Beside the middle silver connecting cylinder, there is another silver cylinder but is only attached to one of the gold pieces. The side silver cylinder connected to both pieces is smooth around on the side of knob but as it connects to the other, it has a spiral design engraved in. Between both knobs, there is a thicker silver cylinder at a ninety-degree to the smaller silver pieces. It has holes in it for the smaller cylinders to go through. At the end of the thicker cylinder, there is a metal rectangular piece, silver with rounded circles on one side, and green on the other. The green side has a rounded triangle prism attached.

2015.001.02c: Butt Hinge
Two metal rectangular pieces attached by alternating cylinder like rectangles. Each rectangle has four holes. On one side of the rectangles, the metal is gold for most of the area but where they meet in the middle is painted a light green. On one side corner, there are multiple lines of engraved text. On the other side of the rectangles, one piece is painted brown and the other is mostly white with some beige on the edge and where the two pieces meet is painted a light green.
