Port Credit, near Toronto, Canada

Front: Colour picture. The top of the image is a blue fading into white/beige sky. On the left, there are multiple boats in a small body of water. Behind the boats on the horizon there are a few red buildings surrounded by green grass and some trees. In the middle of the image, there is a light brown/tan pathway with a light red three rowed barrier on either side. On the left side of the pathway near the start of the bridge, there are two women in dresses and a hat walking away from the water. Behind the two women walking, there are two wooden electricty/telegraph poles. Part of the path is a bridge going over water. Beside the bridge, there is a small brown house-like structure on the water. On the other side of the bridge, there are two men walking towards the water with a blue car close behind, as well as a man and woman going in the opposite direction. On the right of the photo, there atre three trees and a small pond. The pond has a structure and a dock or small boats. The bottom of the image is just a continution of the path. In the lower right corner is the identifying code “104 483” and in a small circle the letters “JV.”

Back: Divided back. Some printed text identifies the maker as Valentine & Sons Publishing on the left. On the top right corner, there is a rectangle for a stamp. Along the top in the middle, there is some text and two globes. Below the text, there is a vertical line dividing the page in half.

Vertical colour document. The background of the page is blue with some white clouds at the bottom. The image on the page is a group of nine people within the basket of a hot air balloon. The balloon is at the top left corner (partially cut off) and has red and orange stripes. Within the opening of the balloon, some metal and wood pieces are seen coming out. Beside the balloon on the right, there is a white and grey bird with its wings pointing upwards. The basket is brown and appears as if it was made out of wicker. There is one figure who is hanging outside of the basket wearing a yellow shirt, jeans, and one white shoe, the other shoe is to the left of his left foot. On the left in the basket, there is a figure in a leather jacket, a white scarf, and a helmet holding a gun with ammunition rows hanging off his arm. Beside the ammunition, there is another white and grey bird flying with its wings pointing upwards. In the basket above the man with the yellow shirt, there is a figure holding onto the basket with one hand and above the figure is another with his hand in a salute gesture. To the left of the salute, there is another figure with his arm down holding onto the yellow shirt. To the right of the saluting figure, there is a figure with sun glasses, a partly open shirt, and a fun in her hand. Physical Training

Front: Real Picture Post Card, Black and White Photograph. Approximately 47 men stand facing the camera in formation, legs spread and hands on their hips. They wear dark pants, white shoes, and either white t-shirts or undershirts. At the far left of the image, a man stands at attention in profile. He wears dark pants, dark shoes, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a thick belt. The area around the men is empty, likely dirt or low grass, with no defining features. In the background, at least a half dozen low buildings with prominent chimneys can be seen.

Back: Divided back, does not feature line separating sides. Text across the top reads “POST CARD” in outlined block letters. Underneath reads “MADE IN CANADA”, and below that, separated by a long space are the words “CORRESPONDENCE” and “ADDRESS”. To the right is a stamp box. The stamp box does not feature an outline, but consists of the letters “AZO” forming a border on the tops and sides. The corners of the border are marked with small symbols, possibly squares. The centre of the stamp box reads “PLACE STAMP HERE”. There are no additional decorations. A handwritten (cursive) note in black ink reads: “P.T. Course at Long Branch Ont.”

Old English Atmosphere where Finest Food is Served.

Front: black and white image of a road and building. At the top of the image is a partly cloudy sky. On the left and right side of the image from the top to the road, there is a tree with leaves. In front the left tree, there is a black lamp post and in front of the right tree, there is a sign for the restaurant with its name on two poles. Between the trees is a large two-storey bricked building. The building has many windows with white frames. In the centre of the building, there is a door with a white overhang and three windows above. To the right of the centre, there is another door with a smaller overhang. To the right of the building, closer to the edge of the page, there is a car beside a wooden fence and another building can be seen behind the fence. To the left of the building, closer to the edge of the page, behind the lamppost is a car and behind the car is a gazebo like structure. In front of the main building, there is a horseshoe driveway and a front yard. On either side of the driveway entrances there are plants and on the right of the driveway there is a stone pillar. In front of the plants there is a sidewalk and a curb. The bottom of the page shows a road with two sets of streetcar tracks. The image is surrounded by a white border all of the way around. Within the border, there is text at the top and bottom.  

Back: There is a rectangle at the upper right corner with text within. In the middle of the upper edge, there is horizontal English and French text with some lines. The name of the maker goes vertical down the centre of the page, dividing the back into two. At the bottom of the vertical text, there is the company’s logo.

North American Hotel

Front: Colored photograph of the North American Motel. The picture demonstrates a street view of the motel with cars being parked in front of it. At the right hand side there is sign mentioning the name of the motel, at the back of the motel there is a tall far fetched green tree. The lawn near the building looks clean with a vacancy sign kept near the entrance.

Back: The back of the postcard is beige and the postcard seems to have never been used. The postcard is divided into almost two parts by a written text “Canadian Post Card Co. Ltd., Toronto 3”. On the left hand side Motel’s information (address and contact details) is printed with blue ink. On the right hand side “Post Card” is printed along with a box that mentions “Place stamp here”. At the bottom left corner “40687-B” is printed which appears to be some kind of a serial no. In the middle there is a little circle that writes “Printed in Canada” lastly at the bottom right corner “250” is written with a pencil.

Front: Black and white photograph. The photos shows a boat with a mast on a rocky beach on the left. There is a house seen on the very left past the boat. The right side of the photo shows a body of water with waves. Behind the water is a waterfront with trees. At the foreground in the middle, there is a cluster of large rocks.

Back: Divided blank back. There is some black text on the top centre with a square in the right corner. There is a vertical line down the middle centre of the back.

Mohawk Institute, Brantford, Canada

Front: Colour picture of the Mohawk Institute. The top of the image is a blue sky with some white clouds. In the middle of the image is a mostly red brick (but with some grey bricks along the bottom) building with white trim and a grey roof. The building has many windows. In the centre of the building, there are stairs leading to a door surrounded by white pillars. The white pillars extend from the ground to the roof and on the second floor, appears to also include balconies. There are four chimneys on the roof, two closer to the left and two on the right. In front of the building is a tan path way extending from the bottom corner to the stairs. The rest of the space in front of the building is green grass. On the right side, there is a green leafed tree. In the upper left of the postcard, printed over the trees, text on the image reads: “Mohawk Institute, Brantford, Canada.”

Back: Divided back. Some printed text identifies the maker as Stedman Bros. Limited along the left side. There is text along the top and a rectangle with text in the upper right corner. Below is the divided back with lines and text. No letter was written on the card.

Mimico Asylum (Lakeside Sanatorium)

Front: Coloured, printed postcard. Depicts about a blue sky with some white clouds, eight red brick buildings with blueish-grey roofs, a large field, and 13 cricket players. The field is green but at the forefront of the image, there is a gravel path. The cricket players are all dressed in white. “Mimico Asylum (Lakeside Sanitorium), Toronto, Canada” is in printed text on top right. Bottom right of the image reads “JV” in a circle with the number “104,072”. Top half of the postcard (horizontal) has a handwritten message in black, faded ink.

Back: Printed text at top middle reads “Souvenir Post Card.” To the left of the postage stamp is a postmark that reads “Milton West, AM, OC 13, 09, ONT”. Bottom right has handwritten address for receiver. Left half of back has handwritten message, upside down. Left side underneath written message is printed text which reads “The Valentine & Sons Publishing Co., Ltd. Montreal and Toronto. Printed in Great Britain.” It bears a 1903 King Edward VII 3/4 profile 1 cent stamp.
