Urban Legend is a Phoenix Pictures, Canal+ Droits Audiovisuels, and Original Film film. G Building stood in as the site of “Stanley Hall” in Urban Legends where a series of murders took place at the fictional Pendleton University. Twenty-five years later a new murderer is on the loose and killing students in ways that replicate urban legends. Cumberland House also appears in the film, standing in for the university’s frat house. When the film was in production in 1997, G Building had yet to be renovated (it was the last of the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital buildings leased by Humber to be renovated; it re-opened in 2016). The derelict building provided the perfect setting for the boarded-up, abandoned “Stanley Hall”.
